Volunteer

Volunteers are an integrated part of foodbanks. Your skills could be just what we need.

Volunteers are the driving force behind foodbanks. There are thousands of volunteers across the UK, helping Trussell  Foodbank Network get emergency food to people in crisis. We want you to enjoy volunteering and there are lots of ways to get involved. Whatever role you choose, you will make a real difference to the life of someone in crisis.

Warehouse Assistant

Warehouse Assistant Role Description

We need help to weigh, sort and store donated food before it’s made into parcels for clients to collect. You could help in this vital work to ensure we have the right food available at all times.

Van Driver

Van Driver Role Description

We require people to help with the distribution of food from our warehouse to our distribution centres and also with donation pickups.  This role is physically demanding but very active and rewarding.

Distribution Centre

Distribution Centre Role Description

Meet clients and give out food parcels. Have an informal chat with clients, to discuss their situation and signpost to further support. You work in small teams to make the distribution work effectively

FAQ

  • What can I expect from volunteering at the Foodbank?

We are a friendly sociable bunch who would welcome people willing to help with open arms. The roles are quite different but what most have in common is that you’ll be lifting crates of food so you would need to be physically fit enough to do this.

  • Can I speak to someone before completing an application form?

Sure thing. You can speak to a member of our office team on 0300 102 2500. Or email us at [email protected]

  • I only have 2 hours a week available is that ok?

Yes. We would welcome your help at our Warehouse with packing our food parcels.

  • Can I volunteer with a friend?

Definitely. We have a few couples and friends who volunteer and thoroughly enjoy the experience.
