We are looking for people across Renfrewshire who would like to give a little of their time and make a real difference in their local community. We would love for you to come and meet us at our Volunteer Open Day on Monday 15th September from 11am to 1pm at our food donations drop-off centre. Come along, meet the team, find out more about how you can get involved and see first hand the difference your time can make.
At Renfrewshire Foodbank, our volunteers are the heart of everything we do. Every week, we provide a minimum of three days’ nutritionally balanced emergency food to families and individuals from Paisley to Johnstone. In 2025 alone, we provided 10,798 emergency food parcels, supporting 1,856 households across Renfrewshire. None of that would be possible without the incredible people who give their time to support us.
There are lots of different ways to get involved and you do not need specialist experience. Just a willingness to help.
Warehouse and Food Sorting
Help us receive, sort and organise the food that comes into our warehouse, making sure donations are ready to become food parcels for local people. This involves sorting donations, checking dates, organising stock and keeping the warehouse running smoothly.
Food Parcel Packing
Help prepare food parcels for people referred to the foodbank. You will work as part of a friendly team, selecting and packing the right food for each household and making sure every parcel is ready for distribution.
Distribution Centres
Be part of the team welcoming people who have been referred to the foodbank and helping them receive their parcel with dignity and kindness. This involves preparing parcels, welcoming people and supporting the team at our distribution centres.
Drivers and Collections
Help us get food where it needs to go. Our volunteer drivers collect donations and help transport food and supplies between our warehouse and distribution centres. This involves driving one of our vans, loading and unloading crates and helping with food collections.
Supermarket Collections
Our supermarket collections are a brilliant way to meet people in your local community and encourage shoppers to donate the food we need most. This involves helping at collection points, chatting to shoppers, handing out shopping lists and receiving donations.
Fundraising
Help us raise the money we need to keep the foodbank running and support people across Renfrewshire. This involves helping at fundraising events, coming up with ideas, supporting campaigns and approaching local businesses and community groups. You do not need to be a fundraising expert. If you are good at talking to people, organising things or coming up with ideas, we would love to hear from you.
Community Engagement and Events
Help us connect with local communities, schools, churches, businesses and community groups and tell people about the work of Renfrewshire Foodbank. This involves supporting events, helping at community activities and representing the foodbank in the community.
Administration
Behind every foodbank is a huge amount of organisation. Our admin volunteers help keep things running smoothly behind the scenes, helping with data entry, filing, answering enquiries, preparing information and supporting the staff team.
There is a place for everyone
Whether you have a few hours every week, can help occasionally or have a particular skill you would love to share, we would love to meet you. No experience is necessary for most roles and we will make sure you feel confident and ready before you get started.
Your time could make a real difference to someone in your community.
Come along to our Volunteer Open Day on Monday 15th September from 11am to 1pm at E Block Offices, Westway, Porterfield Road, Renfrew, PA4 8DJ and see how you could get involved.
